Well that's the fate of every thread. This one has made it quite far on topic actually. And hey, complaining about soft drinks, that is first world problem at it's finest! In fact isn't questioning the on topic-ness of a thread very fist world problem? We are slaves to it :O |

I don't know if it qualifies as a problem, and I don't feel like I am a slave of that .

Okay, don't want to dwell on this as off-topic chit-chat is annoying David
However, this:
Nicely illustrates the point I was making:
Of course that could be explained as satisfying a sugar craving by substituting deserts for the missing sugar from the diet coke, but that would imply that sugar is adictive. I could go on but I don't want to distract from the fantastic acheivement of losing 30 pounds regardless of the reason, () because 30 pounds of excess body weight from regular coke is scary maths - if you could convert all of the sugar to fat (which you probably can't) that would equate to something like 350 cans of soft-drink "over summer" and that's too much by any standard, even of diet soda, so little wonder your body reacted.
Anyway, well done on the weight loss.

Thanks. But I would add, its not as clear cut as you make it sound. I ate deserts all the time before last summer. Then I kicked Soda and stopped eating sh*t at least in large quantities. Many months later, I began allowing myself deserts. Big mistake. I gained back a small percentage of what I lost sans-coke last summer. I was 232 last June, I got down to 200 in September. Then I slowly gained back to 210. It's still 22 pounds down. But this happens to 90% of people who diet. You have to diet even when your done with your diet. Its a frustrating cycle of doom. I am naturally a 3000 calorie eater, and I always will be, but to be healthy I can only eat 1800-2100 calories. |

^ Is it because of sugar? My mother told me that if you will be consuming a s$%tload of sugar it might become a potential cause for cancer.

Everything does cause Cancer. That's the problem with cancer. It's killing off my extended family and I'm sure it will come for the rest of us pretty soon. I don't think sugar particularly causes cancer. Almost all foods contain sugar. Almost all species rely on some sort of sugar directly or indirectly. If it was deadly in the same way as Uranium I don't think there would be life on Earth. On the other hand, sugar can contribute to diabetes, which is very real. You must be careful about your sugar consumption for that reason. If you have diabetes, you have to regulate your sugar levels carefully. I do not have diabetes, but if continued drinking regular soda, I don't know. I was getting a lot of sugar in. All my bloodtests always showed up fine, but I had a problem with High Tri-somethings which is related to sugar as well, I think it exaggerates the effects of having an imbalance of fats, but I don't know too much about that particular problem. In general too much of anything is deadly. |

Qualification: Sugar can contribute to obesity which can contribute to developing type-2 diabetes - sugar does not cause diabetes, anything that makes you fat can increase your risk of developing diabetes. http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/diabetes-myths/ |

Still only $3.55 here Oh here's the worst problem: When you end up falling asleep (or more like a nap) at some weird hour and wake up at 2 am in the morning, and am all kinds of messed up now O I hate that |

Wow, easy there. And I wonder what the wages are like over in England. Are they also twice as high in USD as those in the States?
Do you take some kind of medication by any chance?

I went to sleep at 9pm last night, and woke up around 5am, I usually wake up at 9am. Now I don't know what to do for the next 5 hours at least.
