both bands started out in the mid 70s both released debute albums in late 70s 1977 and 1978, both had the bulk of their albums in the 80s, both are tallanted musicians based bands, and the similaritys stops there, whilie Univerze Zero is among the most complex and out there progressive rock bands is Toto safe as a Toyota Corrola, or VolksWagen Passat, both have a certian artistc high level, but where Univerze is challanging music (and the universe), so is Toto playing saftly withing the bounderys of popular musicl where the chamber rock compositions of Zero is everexpanding and pulling in influences from classical music, jazz and avant/garde, drags Toto from contemporary popular music, basicly jazz, rock, funk and hard rock,
Universe Zero is hardly comcercial and Toto is hardly progressive, but both are highly tallanted bands with no relation other then playing music, rock, and being bands, , this is the new section of bands with no relation what-so-ever poll series (other then being bands, playing rock and have a certain degree of what can be called musicianship above normal rock standards which both of these bands undoubtly have |

I love Univers Zero, especially the début (less rock than Uzed), and have all of UZ's studio albums and Relaps (still in RIO I'm a bigger fan of Art Zoyd and I don't have all of AZ's). With Toto, I've heard some nice stuff here and there, but the only album they were involved with that I was ever really into is the Dune soundtrack. Funnily enough, I think Hydra starts off as not sounding of a really different world from Presage off Uzed (one of UZ's easier listening tracks for Proggers, I think, off one of UZ's more accessible albums), but then it becomes clearly very AOR. UZ is a band that I don't think has put out one poor album, which I couldn't say for many that are still active that have been going since the 70s. I much prefer chamber rock to AOR, so an easy UZ vote.

Very possibly one of the easiest polls I've voted in.

this is one of the most interesting Toto songs, as i have no idea if it is a drum machine or Jeff porcaros rigth foot who is totaly insane in this song, couse it is almost scary how fast the bass-drum pattern is so precise and fast,
the song is actualy more progressive then you would think, though also very catchy, sort of prog in a 10cc fassion |

RIO or AOR? As I've only owned the vinyl version of (the masterpiece) Heresie, I hadn't heard this excellent 1975 bonus track until a week ago: Btw: What were they thinking first changing the perfect original coverart: first into this, which is alright but nothing special ... and now in 2010 we get this photoshopped 90's design piece of sh*t? |

Univers Zero is my favorite. Here is an example of how Toto get progressive. This is more along the lines of Goblin or Rick Wakeman.
