I think Hugues is French Canadian which means that he isn't French nor Canadian - kinda like Lars Ulrich who isn't Danish anymore yet a far cry from an American too
I too have an affinity for Fender rhodes driven Zeuhl/fusion. There's just something about that sound! It also happens to be my favourite part of In den Gärten Pharaohs - y'know on the first track after the looooooong percussive feast and things suddenly open up like a flower with that Fender rhodes? Rrrrrraaauw! Oh and I'm glad to be of service m'lud It's only fair when I consider how many titles I have bought after reading your reviews...so yeah Quid Pro Quo buddy. Canadians know their Zeuhl? Not sure about that, isn't Hugues Canadian(ducks and runs for cover). Thanks Bamsen! I have a problem apparently when it comes to Fender Rhodes driven Zeuhl. I even gave Caillou's debut the album of the year in 2013 although they are more like One Shot so Zeuhl flavoured I suppose. I was just thinking the other day that David the Dane influences me more than no other these days. Nik Turner's new one, Hedersleben, Baron, Circle's new one and on ad on, so glad we have similar tastes man.

Hi there John
Just wanted to say that I've been enjoying your recent reviewing stint immensely. Great bunch of albums too - made me revisit that VAK album and I now I can't believe I left it off my AOTY list It's like the good ol saying eh: 'Canadians know their Zeuhl'

Thanks for that, I think here in Canada we often don't value our bands as much as we do international ones, for the most part. Off the top of my head I don't think I have a Dutch band in any of my AotY lists but I'll check. Oh and Fragile King's review of Ocean 5 was cool.

I enjoyed it as well. But I am not surprised. In general, Dutch people have a tendency [1] to look beyond the borders of their small country and [2] to underestimate the value of what comes from the Netherlands. I made my fifth contribution to the AotY list this year and it is the first time that I included a Dutch album.

I enjoyed Tarcisio Moura's review of NICE BEAVER's latest. It makes me feel good to see so many positive reviews for this Dutch band. It blows me away that the DPRP hasn't reviewed it. Not that I even go on there anymore(I checked their AOTY lists recently) but I was just a little shocked that a Dutch band wasn't reviewed from a site out of The Netherlands.

^Haven't seen her in a bit; I'm guessing she's mourning Bowie.
And I don't think that post was sarcasm, she meant it. |

I have really enjoyed Olav's (WindHawk) review for Iron Maiden's: The Book Of souls.
It's a very clinical read and I appreciate the depth of it. |

Great Battles review from the fruitman aka David
I'm not sure I agree, but it has lead me to reinvestigate the album...as soon as I get some coffee in my veins. |

I don't hit him over the head for his different taste. but for adding a band that sounds like CCR he deserves a little hitting

please don't hit Philippe for having another taste and without being concrete. I wrote a review on the latter occasion ... |

his reviews are a mixed bag to me. sometimes they are great, sometimes he is in my opinion way off the mark, like for example in this one: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=52098 one of my favorite albums. I gave it 4 stars in my review but I really should have given it 5. and he gives it a mere 2 http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=52057 and some of his recommendations honestly leave me baffled. he even added a band that is very obviously not prog at all under Krautrock. I forgot the name, but I listened to all three of their albums, and they sounded exactly like Credence Clearwater Revival. they actually made an album with them as well. and does anyone here honestly think CCR are a prog band?
