Killer review from Atavachron on that Cherry Five release, especially his musings on the golden era of prog etc.

Indeed! Truly excellent review of an album that deserves more recognition (though I have never been too keen on the English vocals). |

Prog Sothoth laid a golden egg with his A Saucerful Of Secrets review, great to see someone who appreciates this album so much.

^Thanks man, seriously!
Since becoming a collaborator, I've come to realize that I hardly review anything since then and kind of missed it. Reviewing albums I have a passion for was a way to reclaim my interest in review writing. I should try to do at least one per week to "keep in shape" as long as I have something to say besides "this is good" or "I don't care for this sort of thing" after merely describing the music. As for the review, I have to say that I'm not one of those who doesn't care for Floyd's more acclaimed releases, in fact I love the classics, but there's just something about the early years that grabs me on a different level.

Outstanding review of my favourite PF album! If you can forgive me for tooting my own horn, this is what I wrote about A Saucerful of Secrets a few years ago: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=159333. A modified version of the same review was also posted on my blog a couple of years later.

Thanks! Your review is certainly excellent and shares the right amount of stars (}, although I can understand it's not for everyone, including a decent amount of Floyd fans. Your "polarizing" comment is especially true...right down to the band members themselves, as in a recent Newsweek interview Mason proclaimed ASOS as his favorite Pink Floyd album, while Wright apparently disdained his own contributions during the early years. |

Thanks! I actually went into this album with trepidation since I haven't exactly been enthralled with her more recent stuff, in fact I barely listen to them and find them a bit of chore to sit through, so this was actually a really nice surprise. If you dig Homogenic and Vespertine, then yes...definitely give it a chance! |

I must admit that doing reviews for me has a selfish side as it really helps me to "get into" the music in detail including checking out the background etc. I find it's the best way to become more intimate with an album. |
