I just bought that album - fantastic. Fates Warning meets Symphony X meets Pain Of Salvation. It features Ray Alder of Fates Warning ... Discuss ... Edited by MikeEnRegalia |

bump. Now that I've listened to the album extensively, I cannot help noticing some serious plagiarism here. Am I the only one to see the obvious Symphony X and Dream Theater references? On www.progressiveworld.net the album was reviewed as a masterpiece ... I would agree, if there weren't these obvious similarities ... Does anyone else notice this? |

From what I have heard I don't think they are totally original sounding, but not quite derivative. So much of the prog metal coming out now is coming from people that were inspired by bands like Dream Theater,Symphony X and the like,so you are going to see the obvious influences in their music.

I got the album a few days ago, the first thing that struck me was,
Wow, this sounds really promising. But one minute into the first
song, there's this blatant ripoff from Symphony X. Listen to:
-Threads at around 1.17 This sounds SO famlilar - Accolade II at 5.00 (thanks MikeEnRegalia) Then in the next song there's the same thing: - Parker's Eye at about 1.20 - a rip from Edge of forever at 2.05 -> ! This is NOT acceptable ![]() Edited by Progzilla |

Hmm, both Michael Romeo and Jason Rullo from Symphony X were involved
in the first Redemption album (named "Redemption"), so one could
speculate that Mr. Romeo must have something to do with the apparent
copying on "The fullness of time"... Maybe just fooling around a little
during the recording?

I guess that they authorised these musical "citations" ... but I think they should have mentioned it in the booklet, or at least on their website. |
