What! "NO Search Results Found For" Carpe Nota (match phrase).

This is fricking excellent instrumental prog with doses of excellent, screaming synths IMO! Hear it (s/t debut album?) on Progstreaming before it's too late.

Should be piece of cake for adding to PA.

Love is the answer. Or enjoy very cold straight or with sugar.

they belong to the site for sure, not sure about the subgenre, there's also a strong symphonic vibe
will need some time

It most certainly is!!

I must say I'm not hearing much metal in this though, or even Heavy Prog. True there are plenty passages interspersed throughout where the wick gets turned up a bit, but my overriding feeling here is something right smack in the middle of Neo/Symph territory. I'm pretty sure Neo would take them without any bother at all, but it may be worth running the album past Iván and his men first.

If they'd turned these compositions into proper songs with a half-decent vocalist tagging along for the ride, this would have been one hell of a fricking album to say the least!

My friend and I were having a lengthy discussion about this very album only hours ago! We also have absolutely no idea what genre this album belongs to! One second it has lentghy keyboards Ozric style wigouts, then epic guitar solos, then galloping Maiden-like bass, then ambient elements! Sigh....exhausting!

Metal/heavy prog is far too limiting a description, but there are elements......crap, see how this goes round in circles with that album?! Exactly the point my friend and I ended on with it!

No doubt however that it is a terrific album! :)

^  You bet it is!!

This one deserves the 'yam yam treatment' for sure, so:

Photoshoot:

And the album itself:

Now apart from the Photoshoot video at the top of this pile (735 views), these have all had considerably less than 100 views each since they were posted on 2nd June this year Shocked, and the band's facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Carpe-Nota/197562113637345 still only has 71 'likes', so let's change all that!!

Lots of non-members visit this forum to discover new bands and new music, so I hope nobody from Carpe Nota objects to me embedding these vids on here, and that the guy who put them all up on YouTube in the first place doesn't come a cropper at the hands of the 'copyright police'.

This is an ABSOLUTE BELTER of an album, make no mistake - so go right now to http://www.carpenota.com/carpe_nota_media_page.htm and get yourself a copy of the CD! It can be had from all the usual sources like amazon, syn-phonic.com, cdbaby, kineseis & iTunes, or direct from the band themselves for just 15 bucks (USA) or 20 bucks (rest of the World), including shipping.

And guys - lets get them added pronto...None of the long, drawn out ping pong matches that all too often plague these hard-to-classify acts, eh?

Marvellous stuff!!!!  HeartHeart

Yam Yam: After  receiving your PM a couple hours ago,  checked this EXCELLENT band.

They have some Symphonic elements (As most classic Prog oriented bands), but clearly they are in heavy Prog territory, the use of distorted guitars with Metal resemblance and the Hammond that reminds me of Ken Hensley confirms my primary opinion.

And, I think they are even less Neo Prog oriented.

If not accepted by Heavy Prog, I believe Eclectic would be the second best option.

Iván

PD: Sometimes is helpful to search other sites

CD BABYFiery instrumental progressive rock with heavy keys, ripping guitar and dynamic rhythms combining classic elements of great prog and hard rock.

Sounds Heavy Prog to me but if rejected by HP and Eclectic, I'll be willing to support their inclusion in Symphonic, this band shouldn't be left away from the site

Heavy Prog. Yes. This is f**king Rush and King Crimson worship at its best! :-D And original in its own right! I like this band a lot.

Thanks for your input here, Iván and Greg. Thumbs Up

So, the general concensus seems to be Heavy Prog - ultimately Andy will be the one to confirm this for definite, since that team is very much his baby. At least we now have a pledge from Iván that if the worst comes to the worst he will do what he can to accomodate the band in Symphonic - it seems that Carpe Nota are now guaranteed a place on here somewhere at the very least!

Thanks again guys. Smile

Clap Wow! never experienced PA react this expeditious before Approve

I could sense the excitement in the replies for suggesting Carpe Nota and I think it was reponded accordingly Hug

Let's see if the final steps of the addition procedure is as expeditious.

(This band is thrilling!)

Earlyprog: PA teams normally react faster than this to suggestions.

The issue that people who are not part of the Collaborators normally only see the cases that have problems due to their complexity.

In our case (Symphonic Team) normally check the band in a lapse of 24 hours since we are informed, and almost always add the artist in a 48 hours lapse at the most.

I make a daily search for threads that have the word Symphonic attached, that's why we didn't noticed Carpe Nota because the suggestion tag says Metal or Heavy Prog. But I was notified yesterday or Friday around 9 PM (Yam Yam sent me a PM that I opened when came back home)  and after two hours I had my personal evaluation.

Other teams take more time, because  they have more suggestions (Lately not many Symphomnic bands are created), but they do a great job.

Sometimes bands that belong in two or more genres or even seem to fit in no one, and that's the problems you see on this problems.

Cheers

Iván

Now three 'yes' votes in Heavy, and just two members left to vote...the status hasn't changed to 'cleared' as yet, but this act seems to be pretty well home and dry to me! Clap

Wonderful news, I always thought that Heavy Prog was the first option.

Great call guys.
