Gilmour by a quarter of an inch. Latimer is one of the best guitarists of the 70's no doubt there, he has endless incredible moments for example his solo on 'Rhayader Goes To Town' OOHHHHH YEAH....Gilmour has done so much, one of my favorite moments is Marooned from Division Bell, gets me every time.

David Gilmour. He's undoubtedly more known than Latimer, but that's just not decisive thing here. As for technical skills of both guitarists, it's debatable. However, what's the important for me, Gilmour has never recorded any similar crap like "The Single Factor" or "Stationary Traveller".

That's also debatable

Only one guitarist can play the guitar with his bare feet. Wink

i think in a fight (brawl), David would hav won, he is more fitt, and actualy have some impressive bicepts when he flexes the guitar.

Although I like David Gilmour a lot, I've never really considered his playing to be very emotional. Latimer, on the other hand, is awesome and very emotional as the aforementioned Lady Fantasy live version can attest. I voted Latimer.

Oh, for me the studio version of Lady Fantasy is just perfect, and indeed has some beautiful emotional playing. I just want to hear it again.

Gilmour. There's just too many great songs he's associated with for me to even consider Latimer. I even like Gilmour's solo albums.

Anyone who cries while playing their own songs is either conceited, hamming it up, or a sissy.

Sorry, but that is just outright stupid thing to say. Angry

Both fantastic and emotive players like few others but had to vote for Gilmour, maybe because I'm more familiar with his discography but I find that he has the most emotive playing, quantity wise at least, perhaps not quality wise.

Both have a sound I really like, but my vote goes to Gilmour, because of his knack for knowing when enough is enough. And his solos are also always "humable". Take Dogs for instance, where do you find the melody? In the guitar solo no doubt, not in the sung parts. Gilmour is simply a much better melody maker. A fact I think is the reason why Pink Floyd is such a much more successful band than Camel.

Latimer is just one of a kind, he's got such an amazing passionate expressionate feeling in his playing, every note is full of character and intention.

I haven't heard Guilmor as much , but he is of course one of the greatest guitarists. I love the sound character that he invented (I think) in the 80's which you can hear in "No more lonely Nights" by Paul Mccartney (the end solo). ian Chrichton of Saga was inspired by that expression and used it on the Heads or Tales album.

I vote for Latimer.
