Although I like the short songs on 2112, as a whole Moving Pictures is better.

2112 is a great album but it pales when compared to Moving Pictures, they simply became so much better musicians. The 2112 suite was a very inspired young effort and the B-side songs were also good, but you can't compare it with the mature perfection of Moving Pictures.

I prefer 2112 much more. Although I consider side 2 to be a little week, the 2112 suite on side 1 is one of my favorite Rush pieces.

Overall I have to pick Moving Pictures, because of decent B-side of 2112. But an album-titled epic is a way better than any song off MP and probably it's a best Rush song for me.

the way you reply when someone criticizes Rush is hilarious. This time you've outdone yourself. :)))) |

2112 has that start right....probably The best bit of music that rush ever did. It's just sublime...moving pictures is good but pales against the first of rush's best tracks.

From 2112 to Moving Pictures Rush was as good as any band ever. Those five LP's are all within a hair's breath of each other but I give the slight edge to 2112.

I'm not a big Rush fan, but I think both of these albums are so good. I have to give Moving Pictures the edge because by the time I got around to sitting down with it, I was very impressed. Such a great beast, front to back.

Moving Pictures edges 2112. As already mentiioned, these, and the albums in between, represent a classic period for the band.

A lot of times people complain about side two on 2112. However, for me the only weak songs on there are "lessons" and "twilight zone." I don't really think "tears" is that great either but I wouldn't call it weak. Even "twilight zone" isn't THAT bad. "Lessons" however, is probably one of Rush's weakest songs from the seventies.
