This list does not contain the best album from each PA genre or my fave album from each genre. This is the list of albums that I felt like listening to last night. I created a playlist containing these 25 albums and hit shuffle. Yes friends, I enjoyed my listening experience last night! Which is your fave from the list?

Voted the self titled `Biglietto per L'Inferno' album, one of my favourite Italian prog albums. The murky sound quality gives the album a surprisingly darker and heavier sound!
Also been giving `Tangerine Dream - Sorcerer' several spins lately, and it's pretty damn good - darker and eerie! So that might have been my second choice. However, cheating with a top 5 would also include: Gentle Giant - Octopus Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream Anathema - We're Here Because We're Here. Lots of great albums on this list! I'm far to have listened to all this albums but I love Zappa's Hot Rats, Opeth's Heritage (which is objectively not an extreme prog metal album, to be quite honest
), GG's Octopus and the first Led Zeppelin

These are always just popularity contests... People just vote for the only one they know of. That said I picked Octopus above the two or three others I actually recognize.

I agree.... but since I am not a fan of growling or screaming vocals this is one of few albums that I have that fits under tech/extreme genre. I quite enjoy this album, but was not crazy about the other Opeth albums I have heard

I can't not vote for Ummagumma. I love that album to pieces. The studio part, in particular, makes me go completely berserk
