I've just listened to the album Shangri-La (2012) of the band Ananke from Poland, and I think this band would fit on this site, that's why I am suggesting it.

Here I found the first track of the album:
http://soundcloud.com/anankeinfo/obietnice

This is their official site, but unfortunately only in polish:
http://www.ananke.info.pl/

I'll try to find more information.

Info from the site: http://www.polishsound.com/artist,98,ananke.html:

Ananke was formed in the city of Bydgoszcz in January 2009 by Krzysztof Pacholski (keyboards) and Adam Łassa (vocals). Just two months later they entered the studio to track their first recordings and December saw the completion of the debut album entitled Malachity / Malachite, which was released early in 2010. They both are known from the band Abraxas, who we already have in Neo Prog: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=3.

First album 'Malachity' in full:

Now they return with the second CD called Shangri-La. It was recorded in Jet Studio with Maciej Fedek taking over sound engineering duties. Mastering was done by Jacek Gawłowski.

Shangri-La was released on 11th September and includes ten new songs: Obietnice / Promises, Sara / Sarah, Luna, Gniew / Anger, Fatima / Fátima, Shangri-La, Schizofrenicus, Nostalgia, Eden, Lustra / Mirrors.

You’re wondering what the meaning behind Shangri-La is? The band sheds some light on title of the record: It’s an escape to the place that, just like the land of never-ending happiness, entwines human existence. What would life be without believing that people can live with no fear and violence? It sounds utopian but unless we cross the boundaries of our being we won’t know the whole truth about it.

Łassa adds: Ananke is music plus lyrics complementing each other. Each song tells its own story of emotional lava covered with diversity of sounds and moods. Like the subtle whispers in a head full of doubt… We do believe that on our album you’ll find some light in the tunnel, the beginning and the source, a path leading to our world. The world of Ananke”.

Big smile

it says that it leans back to the 90s wave of polish neo-prog (which had an echo in France) with bands like Abraxas, Collage and Quidam. The length of the songs make it more lite prog than full prog, Adam's voice is the major attraction here, there is a fair balance between guitars and keys, and fans of Abraxas and Gazpacho (circa 'Night') should be happy with the music.

you're welcome.

I initially planned to translate the whole review, but when I arrived at the 2 thirds of the translation, I closed accidentally the forum tab, so I decided to make a summary...

Stupid question, probably, but is this for an eval by neo?
In Lazland, life is transient. Prog is permanent.

It seems so. Though the thread starter did not say which sub-genre it should go to.

No need. I can translate.

The band has been cleared by the Neo-Prog Team, BTW. Smile
