I don't have a  huge modern progressive music collection -- it's a small portion of my collection, and have only had two of these albums -- Choirs of the Eye and De-Loused.  Of those, definitely Choirs of the Eye.  The Mars Volta just didn't click with me.

Not that it would be of interest to anyone but myself, but my traditional favourite albums from 2003 are Volapuk's Where is Tamashii? and Robert Wyatt's Cuckooland.

Your the second person to mention Cuckooland and i don't have that particular VOLAPUK album.
