Great interview so far - as Im reading it now.
I've been wanting at least the artwork for album releases because I did preorder the digital and shirt package. Great deal. Though I wish there would be a CD. But with financial issues its completely understandable. Edited by Horizons - July 31 2013 at 10:41 |

I just listened to the track again after a week or two. I think it's grown on me like all of Kayo Dot's material. It's a really stunning track.
It's a shame that not enough funds have been raised to press Hubardo yet. Very few album releases have made me more excited than this one. I don't think Toby is one to over-sell his material, and from his descriptions and the album teaser it seems like this will be at least as good as Choirs of the Eye, if not better. I'm especially because it's a 100 minute narrative, and the band lineup seems largely to be a re-vitalization of the "classic" Kayo Dot lineup. And so far musically, it sounds like nothing I've ever heard (including from KD). Hopefully we'll get this before the end of the year. Here's a recent interview about it: http://www.lurkerspath.com/2013/07/29/kayo-dot-interview-on-hubardo-crowd-funded-projects/ Edited by Earendil - August 01 2013 at 09:34 |

^Yeah I was trying to think what it reminded me of, and I think you nailed it.
It's a capital S seriously good track. Toby's just a composer in his prime right now. |

I've listened to the song a few times now, it kind of reminds me of Vaura, only Kayo Dot-ified.

I'm now playing this track for the 4th time today. Now I'm going to sit in the corner shivering like a junkie waiting for the entire album.

Here's the full update from KD that the link comes from.
It's with great pleasure that we present to you the first preview track, "And He Built Him a Boat," from Kayo Dot's forthcoming double-album, HUBARDO, due this fall. http://kayodot.bandcamp.com/track/and-he-built-him-a-boat-2 "And He Built Him A Boat" is the record's ninth track, so the lyrics have to do with events about 5/8 of the way through the album's narrative. Along with the band's core members, the song also features guest backing vocals by Jessika Kenney (who has also sung for Wolves in the Throne Room, Sunn0))), ASVA, and many others), and BC Campbell. We hope you enjoy this song, and please spread the link around if you may! We're still running the preorder for the 3xLP at http://kayodot.bigcartel.com - we need to sell about 150 more copies of the vinyl in order to have enough money to manufacture it, so please don't hesitate to snap this up. We also have a few shows coming up in NYC: This Saturday, July 13 at Spectrum as part of the NYX II: New York Progressive and Experimental Rock Festival. Playing all new material! http://www.spectrumnyc.com/ Friday, August 16 at St. Vitus Bar with MIRRORGATE, their first show in two years and possibly their last ever? Thanks for reading, listening, and supporting! Toby Driver on behalf of Kayo Dot |

It sounds less dense. More like they're telling a story. I'm really excited to see where they go with this...
I bet we're going to see some new Kayo Dot faces. I've never heard a song from them or any band that sounds like this track. |

the song is beautiful, but I cant help that the audio quality sounds quite low on this file. I hope it sounds better on the actual album.

This is probably unrelated to the new album in progress, but Toby just released a 10-minute soundtrack piece, now on his Bandcamp page. It's called "THE POD".
