This is a tough one, a really consistent album in my opinion.

I'll go with Optimistic. Dem guitars.

I love this album. The shocking opener sets the tone. A statement of purpose, a clearing of the deck. This is a band known for their perfect opening tracks (Planet Telex, Airbag) - and this one is their best. Great tracks on this - Kid A, Idioteque, The National Anthem - but I have to go with that stunning first track.

The opener and National Anthem were contenders too. Both are stunning.

"Everything In Its Right Place". Everything about that song is amazing (save for the lead singer's voice, which is OK): the chord progression (F C Db Eb), the sound of the synth, the vocal intensity and relief, the experiments.

... Closely followed by the awesome atmospheric title track. The sound engineering job on that one is amazing. Cozy and warm.

National Anthem is my favorite Radiohead track.  Reminds me of Mingus once the horns kick in.

Indeed an album with many great tracks - I go for 'How To Disappear Completely' - just one amazing piece of pure atmosphere - literally feels so barron and empty - fully captures a feeling of disappearing (if you get what I'm trying to say......Confused).  I thought 'Idioteque' was the weaker track of the album, but still quite decent.  The opener is a killer tune too.  I don't know their thoughts about Prog, but they absolutely compliment 100% to the whole modern Prog aesthetic.  Surprisingly refreshing, exciting and more than worthy.

Just love the bassy groove to The National Anthem

Actually kind of surprised with the results. Never would have thought there was so much love for Dissapear. No votes for the title track or Morning Bell either.

Giving my vote to the opener. Love that chord progression.

Same here. Optimistic and How to Disappear Completely are the most pre-Kid A tracks on this album. Guitar songs - electric and acoustic, respectively. As many critics had noted at the time, if the album had led off with those 2 tracks, it wouldn't have seemed such a radical departure from The Bends and OK Computer. Good songs though.

I think people who love the track Kid A prob. voted for the first track, like I did. It's such a perfect one-two punch.

Kid A is progressive, in the actual sense of the term, than most of usual stuff that gets mentioned. So is Radiohead as a band - their career shows. It's silly that some people don't even realize it.

Yeah, I love Aphex Twin influence on this album; it shows on those first two tracks too. The title track has that really nice sort of Kraut/IDM beat that really draws me in.
