Man, I really loved that show as a kid. I should try and watch an episode or two again, I seem to remember reading they were ripe with hidden themes.

Hardly surprising considering his long-term poor health but still very sad news. A true character and poet. The Pogues were not really my thing but saw them many times at festivals during the 1980s and you just couldnt help getting caught up in their energy and excitement. RIP Shane.

I've heard it yesterday. I liked Pogues and the Irish folk in general. He added a bit of Punk to it.

Listening to the Crossroads theme (from Venus and Mars) as I type. Probably as good a guitarist as any in the seventies (Band On The Run is fantastic) and also as mentioned wrote the enduring sixties classic British soul tune (who else was doing that at the time?) RIP Benjamin Zephaniah, died age 65. A fantastic poet, saw him perform many times from around 1980 onwards and met him on a number of occasions. A lovely, lovely man, kind and gentle but with a wicked sense of humour and always a twinkle in his eye. Much of his poetry reflected the world he grew up in and the social and racial injustices he saw around him and he became a huge positive influence on the youth and communities that he championed. He will be very, very much missed. RIP BenjaminCry
