Pretty awesome one-off band from Nicaragua. Not a whole lot of information on them, but they were freaking amazing, and I wish they had put out more material.
"Bwana are a psychedelic-funk-jazz-rock band from Nicaragua circa 1970-1972. Lots of Latin percussion, acid rock guitar, jammin’ organ. Spanish language vocals for the most part, although actually the majority of this consists of instrumental grooves. Bwana a group from Nicaragua released only one album. The group disbanded following an earthquake in Nicaragua (December, 1972). Some ex-members live in California and others in Nic. such as Ricardo Palma (active musician)." Pretty much all the info I could find (no idea how to remove the black from around the text up there, so enjoy!), but I'm positive there is more (saw a book about prog and psyche rock in Nicaragua that mentioned them as being included) There should definitely be a place for this album on the site, just have a listen to the two tracks I was able to dig up after a few minutes of searching: Listen to that Hammond and that percussion! Absolutely love that song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPJY2u9vgB4 (the video inserter tool broke for me for some reason, so here's a hyperlink instead) That one there is a bit stranger and a lot shorter, but still very much worth the listen. And a suuuuuuper long link to the only other one I've been able to find. What do you guys think?

This album is pretty special, appears more a Chicano band with a style closer to Santana that sound typical Colombian bands of the time. This board is highly prized by collectors everywhere, particularly in hard to find. An album that at times reminiscent of Abraxas.http://rockchilelatinoamerica.blogspot.co.uk/2008/11/bwana-bwana-1972-nicaragua.html

It was a very nice find, indeed. I was investigating why one of the tags in last.fm is the number '11,' when I came across them as being one of the bands tagged
![]() So, after some quick research and many listens, I decided to put them up here for others to see! Also, very glad to see them on the Jazzchives, I frequent that site often, as well. Should probably start suggesting some of the obscure jazz I listen to for inclusion over there...
