Floyd for me too. I don't find those two albums so similar. There are more similarities between Saucerful Of Secrets and Zeit.

I like both, and will give the edge to EM.

The Floyd was first, so there's a definite chicken / egg consideration here.

But I'll usually reach for The Dream first, just because it's such a weird album by comparison, and after years of listening I'm still tryingb to get a handle on it...

A Saucerful of Secrets

I'm usually not a crazy about Electronic Meditation, but there have been times where it was just the right album to hear. I once put it on repeat five or six times.

Uhm ... SoS? The album with that one track that got me into playing music? (It's funny how the title came out - A SoS. ) Meditation has its moment or two, but other than that, ... .

Gotta go with Floyd on this on.  EM has parts that I like but but on the whole it doesn't resonate with me.  SOS was an album that until I pulled it out recently, I would have said the same thing.  Corp. Clegg never makes the cut though.

I haven't played either album for some time, but Electronic Meditation was a love-at-first-listen album for me -- it strongly resonated with me.  It got my vote.  Much as I like "A Saucerful...", I never loved it as much.

Electronic Mediation was my second TD album to get -- the first being Phaedra, which didn't really click at the time. I love the pre-Phaedra albums.

Slightly off topic but...

A track where Tangerine Dream were obviously inspired by Pink Floyd is this version of "Shy People", they use some very similar sounds and chords to Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". It's almost plagiarism.

Another Tangerine Dream track called "Green Desert" sounds inspired by the opening track on Pink Floyd's "Obscured by Clouds". Go to about 5:00 in the below video and you'll notice that the beat, guitar solo and synth pads are very similar to Floyd's original track, just a little slower.
