im goin with The Best of Kansas because most of the songs found on here were from at least 1 of these studio albums. It basically, in other words, got me to recognize those other songs i like besides Carry on Wayward Son or Dust in the Wind

I really DON'T find most boogie or pop-oriented Kansas tunes from their earlier albums really cringeworthy: they had their own level of exquisiteness despite them not being as abundantly artsy as their more explicitly epic songs. But they are all well crafted and with an extra dose of artsy scheme. They knew how to jam with skill and feeling. For instance, Tocents wrth would have been a hell of a Doobie Brothers song, and what about The devil game and Can I tell you? They bear GG mannerisms that are originally reformulated. Lonely street is one of the best blues-rock compositions ever, IMHO.

Agreed.  IMHO nobody did proggy American blues better than Kansas.  "Lonely Street" is an exquisite composition, and another that doesn't get enough attention is "Mysteries & Mayhem".  "Down the Road" and "Bringing it Back" rock balls-out with a violin and a Hammond for criss-sake - what more do you want?

I like what Gerinski says about "Journey from Mariabronn" on the previous page:  "Try this; if you don't like it then give up on Kansas, you don't need to like them."

Six platinum and four gold albums, 12 top-40 singles, 40 years of making music and they just recently easily sold out almost 3,000 tickets at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh at $65+ for the cheap seats - I don't think the band needs to justify themselves to anyone at this point.

To be honest, I actually always liked Two Cents Worth and the other tunes that are getting flack. No seems to sh*t on Rush for writing poppy tunes next to epic ones, so I don't think Kansas deserves it either.

Not that i care, but Kansas' song were more pop-oriented. Rush's were just simple rock songs, more in the vein of classic rock.

Kansas is the band that I love to hate.

But I will admit that I found about half of Point of Know Return quite entertaining.
