Six Degrees is so good, but Octavarium was the album that got me into Dream Theater. From the beast monster epic Octavarium (one of their best) and just the mainstream feel which I actually like for once and they have never really created before or after in my opinion. Panic Attack was the track that got me into them and I don't listen to it too often, but still love it. But Octavarium is a personal one to me, since it was what took my Dream Theater virginity flower away ha ha. Plus I love how all the songs connect and everything and the concept is finalized in the final track. That blows my mind every time, amazing musical and technical idea from them. So Octavarium for me.

I can't vote yet but I'd go with either Train of Thought or Dramatic Turn of Events. Never quite understood the immense love for 6 Degrees. It's a good album, but not as amazing as people make it out to be in my opinion.

When Dream & Day Unite. Tight, focused, textured, and most importantly — uncluttered.

I voted for WDADU, although I know the sound isn't great, the songs are!
Octavarium would be close, Black Clouds.. has two awesome epics back to back to finish, and one disc from Six Degress is sublime, but WDADU wins on consistency...

Train of Thought. Fantastic album.

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

My vote goes to Six Degrees, easily my favorite of DT's.
Out of the rest though, I actually rank Systematic Chaos as number 2 - and yes I know not many people seem to like that one lol.
Even on DT's own forum it doesn't rate highly, and I've never understood why, I never get tired of listening to In The Presence of Enemies, in particular.

| I do love In the Presence of Enemies... mostly part 1, but the rest of the album sounds rather weak to me. Or annoying.

I do love the whole first disc... and that one would even be my very favourite DT CD, but I can't consider the album as a whole my favourite because I don't really find much to enjoy on the "epic"... and it even doesn't feel like a single long song to me, but several songs joined together by a mutual theme.

Hell, I'd like to know what's their best album from inside the classic era.
