I like them equally, but PG3 shows more genius, so I vote for it.

Duke for me. I like PG-3, but none of his solo stuff really blows me away to be honest.

I'm utterly bored by anything Genesis after the masterpiece that is "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". Having said that, there's only one PG solo album I find interesting so far (haven't given them all a chance yet) and that is "3" or "Melt" as I (among others) call it. I actually listened to my vinyl copy of it yesterday in the darkness of my room. "Intruder" is haunting, "Family Snapshot" brings tears to my eyes, overall the albums heaviness and darkness pulls down the poppiness of the melodies and creates a very interesting "contradictory" sound as I would call it.

PG 3 was a real gamble after a change in record companies. Gabriel was said to have been somewhat disappointed with Fripp's production of his second album and was very intent on changing his sound with Melt. That he did although Games Without Frontiers is his sappiest number. It took me awhile to appreciate the thing, but a light bulb eventually went on, and I now love the album.

Peter Gabriel 3, no contest. Duke is alright and contains good 80's Genesis songs, but the album is too long, and there are so many ballads on it that sound similar that could be easily cut out. PG3 was, for me, Gabriel at his most creative. Hooked me on first listen.

Duke. PG3 I regard as one of the 'weaker' PG albums. The Genesis album, however, has some stellar moments, like Cul-De-Sac and Duke's Travels.
