Prog comes in all shapes and sizes, including dance music. The links between disco and prog are well known, and many cosmic grooves have been grooved along with by groovy groovers.

What prog songs have you seen someone dance to?

I don't really know. You can always flap around while grooving to some Meshuggah anyway LOL

One video in particular comes to mind when the words `dance' and `prog' are mentioned!

I'm going to post this video every excuse I get, it still blows my mind!

Fred Frith's "Gravity" was conceived as a collection of dance pieces.  Not disco dancing, but more like multinational folk dance.

I heard a few times people saying you can dance to Gentle Giant, but never really paid much attention to it.
But when I attended the Three Friends (GG) concert I saw people are dancing to the songs, and then it hit me!

If you get a little high, you can dance to pretty much anything.

Watching some live videos of prog songs make me want to get up and dance, especially Thick as a Brick.

That is a fairly obvious one since Sherman Hemsley did exactly that on live television. A tap if my recollection of the event is correct.

Was at a Twelfth Night gig, I think at Huddersfield student's union, c. 1984.

These two girls came in and started dancing to "Fact and Fiction". They tried to encourage the rest of us to dance - all rather serious young men - and when they failed, left in disgust. I don't think they even stayed for the whole song, let alone the whole gig.

Left in peace, we were able to enjoy the rest of the gig.

I always used to say I liked prog because you couldn't dance to it - I hated dancing, still do, probably far too self conscious!

I love dancing. Always have. I don't go for the foxtrot though, more like frolicking maniacally round the dance floor like a kangaroo with a butt-plug.

Seeing as Iain already mentioned CAN, I'll go ahead and say Demon Fuzz and Magma. Köhntarkosz is brilliant for dancing! You'll look like a demented Uruk-Hai who just stepped on a hot wheels racer, but it's all good thoughCool Women love men who aren't afraid of showing their artistic side(so I've heard...).

I'm not really a dancer but I tell you, I can surely dance better to Apocalypse in 9/8 or The Colony Of Slippermen than to the latest Christina Aguilera pop hit.
My ex was in despair at my null ability to dance to danceable music and then seeing me shaking my body to my beloved prog masterpieces LOL

Although, I have to admit that 'dancing to Prog' is often more like airdrumming with your hole body rather than actually dancing.

Between your review and a magazine review I read recently of the latest Daft Punk album, which made me think they might be turning progesque, I wonder if there's some sort of new subgenre beginning to coalesce? Prog Dance? Dance Prog?

You can dance to everything. Think Stravinsky. I dance round the house to anything when in a happy mood.
