i find them all to be heavy bands, with epic songs, tallented musicians.

I think Nektar deserves as much praise as Rush and Kansas for presenting a more heavy and epic prog rock, nfluencing Iron Maidon and such.

Hmmmmm I wonder who'll winLOL

BTW voted for Nektar, but could just as easily have picked Rush.
I dig the first Kansas album too.

Have to go Kansas, 5 killer albums in a row that still mostly sound superb today, and a truly distinctive style all their own!

About Nektar I don't know much, but the only album I quite like is their debut. For some strange reason I've never been able to pay enough attention to Rush and Kansas. Of the two I quite like the second and sooner or later I'll check something more of them.

In any case those are three bands I currently' don't care much of.

Yes, Nektar certainly deserves more recognition than it gets in this forum, at least as much as Kansas or Rush.

I think i will revrite history and say Nektars Recycle is one of the most outstanding sounding heavy prog albums

Don't have to rewrite history to make that true!  The side long recycle suite is first rate prog and the album closer "It's All Over" is a perfect ending.  For me, this was clearly Nektar's finest hour never to be repeated - so I voted for Rush.  They equaled the accomplishment of Recycled several times in their recording career.  As far as Kansas, as I've said before in these forums, great prog songs sprinkled throughout albums unfortunately mixed with Don Kirschner's attempts in breaking them as a top 40 band...often frustrating listening that a band who could write "Mysteries & Mayhem" could also record "Two Cents Worth" Unhappy

I agree that this is a great album.  They should have made Larry Fast a permanent member, but then would we have had his great work in Synergy and with Peter Gabriel?

As to the poll, I voted for Kansas.  In the long run, their output is inconsistent, but they have still done enough great work to be placed among Prog's very best.

Even I'm a marginal fan, my vote must be for Nektar.

Didn't Nektar make it huge on the US AM radio for some pop songs in the late 70s, early 80s?
