Recomend me some Neoprog or eclectic bands with modern funk influencies...like a blend of Red Chili Peppers or Primus with progressive rock tendencies; better if they use a lot moog and synths. No vintage bands like King Crimson of '80 that included some funk tendencies.
Right now just 2 bands have this kind of sound: Mad Puppet and Crystal Palace, i love the bass line in my face!!! |

Primus came to mind but you already named that one.....perhaps Mr Bungle, Cartoon, or even Faith No More.,,,?

You should definitely look into Dreadnaught. Not Neo but very eclectic
progressive with a lot of funk mixed together, they are one of the better
and overlooked gems in the last decade, that's for sure!
The albums that would fit your description are The American Standard and Musica En Flagrante. Unfortunately there isn't much music online to fully understand what they are all about, but try this... http://dreadnaughtmusic.bandcamp.com/track/derby-days http://dreadnaughtmusic.bandcamp.com/track/trophy-bride There are a few more in that link to check out as you can see. And here is one of the only youtube videos avail... |

Their last album has some synth in it but it's not the main attraction. You wanted eclectic prog funk, better if it's with synth. That's the best I could think of for now.
