That's what much of my time on here is for: searching for a new epic. Doesn't even have to be 20 minutes long. Just needs transitions, dynamic, and complexity (and preferably, to be longer than 10 or 12 minutes). Here are my favorite songs to give an idea of what I'm generally looking for:

1. "Supper's Ready" Genesis
2. "Thick as a Brick" Jethro Tull
3. "Duel with the Devil" Transatlantic
4. "Tarkus" Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
5. "The Gates of Delirium" Yes
6. "Stardust We Are" IQ
7. "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" Van der Graaf Generator
8. "Octavarium" Dream Theater
9. "Ommadawn" Mike Oldfield
10. "Al of the  Above" Transatlantic

My latest findings that are AWESOME and will also help give an idea of what I might be looking for: "Mei" by Echolyn, "Milliontown" by Frost*, "Visions" by Haken, "The Province" by IQ, "Pulsar" by Cast, "Zarathustra" by Museo Rosenbach. The list goes on. If you've a total epic that you want others to hear or just want to declare your admiration for, then voice it!! Big smile Any suggestions will be appreciated.

That is my favorite part on the whole idea of this genre. Anyway, another epic could be the whole Tales from Topographic Oceans album by Yes because all the songs on it are NOTHING but 20 minute epics.

1. 2112 suite (from 2112)

2. Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres (from Hemispheres)

3. The Fountain of Lamneth (from Caress of Steel)

Mandalaband - Om Mani Padme Hum, from their eponymous 1st album, one that gets overlooked a lot around here and deserves far more recognition than it gets.

Janus - Gravedigger
NIL - Le Garden
Discipline - Into the Dream

Glad to see I'm not the only one willing to give that track some love. Thumbs Up

Rogue may be their best track in my book, but Into the Dream, along with the other tracks on that album, are also masterpieces in their own right and definitely deserve high praise and respect.

That album overall is a masterpiece - every song. My favorite by far is Canto IV. Really grabs me in many ways.

Such a strong start to an album too! Even though they're all masterpieces on a basically flawless album, my favorite has to be Crutches. Lyrically, it's so powerful, and the music is so evocative I can't help but feel like I've been through an emotional marathon every time I hear it. Like the others, it only gets better with each listen too.

I like Shatter, but every track on Unfolded is better than any track on Shatter...

(And someone else had mentioned ItD; had I not seen that I'd have suggested it myself.)

WTF ... you don't think that "Remember the Future" is not a concept? .... or "Recycled" for that matter?

RTF is almost 40 minutes long!
Recycled is both sides, although it was combined with material they already had on stage a bit different.

Heck, their first album is 40 minutes!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
