the technical prowess of both albums are breathtaking, i speak of experience as a bass player and drummer who has tried to play this and also tried playing Dream Theater and its there in mndboggelingness

Undertow and Deep In The Motherlode represent Genesis as I really love them. Very committed and intense. ATTWT gets poorly reviewed imo because of the prevailing view that they were 'going commerical'. Certainly it has shorter tracks but apparently it was okay for PG solo to do this but not the G-men.

I agree. Peter Gabriel One is the masterpiece without a question but ATTWT is much better than Peter Gabriel Two and Three imo.

Not heard the Toto album. Never had much interest in the band, but I'm not inspired to check out Isolation..
I shall order a copy immediately.
Presumably you meant "now inspired" rather than "not Inspired" to check out Isolation, Mr Sword?
If
you like the first couple of Asia albums (I do) you should enjoy it.
Proggy AOR played by great musicians who seem really into what they're
doing, with the keyboard work a particular standout IMO.Some great pop/prog songs like Lion, Change of Heart and Mr Friendly.

I listened to the Toto YT link the other day after reading this thread. OK 80s contaminated stuff, but I don't hear the "prog" that others seems to. Plus the 80s drums were tres annoying! Some good guitar, though. And how many singers do these guys have? Each song seems to have a different one!

I am the lord of the typo said he!!
Yes I meant NOW. In fact it turned up in the post today, and I'm giving it a second spin now. I'm enjoying it too. Needs to sink in a little more, but at this early stage I would say ATTWT wins. But it is very enjoyable nonetheless. Melodic and memorable. Good musicianship and good production.
I was never a huge fan of Asia. I like their sound, but find some of their songs rather predictable. I think I would tentatively say I prefer what I've heard of Toto.

that varies, but on deburte, vocal was shared by Bobby Kimbal, David Paich, Seve Lukather, and Steve Porcaro, (4) on Hydra the vocal dutys was between Bobby Kimbal, Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro and David Paich, on Turn back, vocal dutys were between Boby Kimbal and Steve Lukather, on toto IV, same as on toto and on Hydra, Bobby, Steve, Steve and David (Bobby and Steve Lukather on Rosanna), Bobby was fired after (or asked to leave during the sessions of Isolation during his to high heroin usssage), and Fergie Fredriksen become the new "lead" vocalist, so on Isolation vocal duties is shared between, Fergie Fredriksen, Steve Lukather and David Paich (Paich sininng Holyanna and Stranger In Town plus shared vocal duties with Fergie on Carmen) Steve Lukather sings one song.
and they carried on this until forever exept on Kingdom of Desire and Tambu were all vocals were by Steve Lukather.
I could go into details on most albums,
and Jeff Porcaro is no simple 80s drummer, so sink back and listen more closely on it k,

I don't know Isolation, therefore no vote. "And Then ..." is a really good album though. Except "Follow You ..." which is like a bonus track in a different style. For me, the albums ends with "The Lady Lies".
