Based on last weekend's excessive use of Caravan, I'm going with Dave Sinclair. There are so many others I could've voted for here, but Sinclair fulfils every need I crave for in music. He's got feel, intonation, a natural naiveness and maybe some of the most recognisable organ licks known to man. I simply adore his playing.

What Canterbury being Fusion? Or Fusion being trippy?
That's what I was saying. How can all Canterbury (incl. JRF stuff like that from National Health and Matching Mole and SM) be hippy-trippy?

Me too, and I would add Clive Brooks to the list. Voted for Mont Campbell anyway.

Mine would have to be Dave Stewert. Love his work with Egg, Hatfield and National Health.

Mine too, closely followed by Richard Sinclair and Pip Pyle.
Both made some excellent compositions, and Richard has a great voice too.
Correct. Richard Sinclair's voice is so unique.Still waiting for a re-release of "Back to Front ",a really under-rated  Caravan album.

Same.  I love Wyatt in Soft Machine, Matching Mole, his "solo" work, as well as various other projects/albums he contributed to.  He's also the artist included in PA that I'd most like to meet.

Me: Bob Wyatt. His work with SM, Matching Mole, solo - he really knew how to get it on. An outstanding drummer, vocalist, and writer (what an ear for melody).

Ooh, tough one - all great musicians. Canterbury's one of those genres I'm so vague on, I've only heard a handful of albums to be quite honest. Richard Sinclair is a pretty prolific guy though, not my favourite musician, but he gets around. Big smile

Richard Sinclair for that whimsical voice of his. Dave Stewart for being probably the best keyboardist I have heard.

Richard Sinclair for me, as Caravan is by far my favourite Canterbury band, though I do like Egg and Soft Machine.

Never liked Gong and their hippy trippy music.
