Flaud Logic originated in Brooklyn, New York in 2008. Originally an attempt to demo some song ideas composer Michael Kaplan had written over the years, it gradually evolved into a full-length album featuring performances from a cadre of talented musicians including Michael Romeo (guitar), Frank Wyatt (saxophone), Joe Bergamini (drums), and Benny Lackner (Rhodes). Over a period of months, Michael composed and arranged these musical ideas into what would become the album's core: Four tracks—one, a 23-minute epic—that take the listener through a variety of soundscapes and stories. It's intriguing, especially the "making of..." videos, but do you know of any longer samples?
I want to say yes to them, but with only a few very short clips, I am hesitant. |

Hum, well, there's one of their songs on my Podcast (the last one):
http://www.progshine.net/2013/06/podcast-21-250613.html I can ask Michael Kaplan (the guy behind the project) if he has any more songs :) And there are also clips of every song in their CDBaby page: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/flaudlogic |

Thanks, ProgShine.
First, your podcast is outstanding. Second, the track you posted reinforces my opinion that Flaud Logic is more than crossover. That track is fully symphonic to me. |

Really thanks Scott Nice to know that you liked! Well, Flaud Logic is a complicated case, that's why I put them as a possible Crossover. Their album has a bit of everything inside Prog. There's Prog Metal and there's Symphonic. Kinda complicated I know. I'm about to writte a review for the album, later I'll come back to give you a more precise opinion |

Review done! Quite complex Scott.
The first song has many Symphonic moments, but filled with DT schemes. Also, there's some Neal Morse here and there, some Gothic Metal moments, some pop rock kinda of ballads. I would say that is half way between Prog Metal and some Neal Morse kind of Prog. I wouldn't go for Symphonic nor Prog Metal. Maybe some Heavy Prog or Crossover. At least for me :) |

Going to need longer music samples. Is there any prospect of Michael Kaplan providing the album, or the copyright holder granting permission for file-sharing, for the purpose of an evaluation by a genre team?

Hello, everybody; Michael Kaplan from Flaud Logic here! Thank you very much for considering my record for inclusion into Prog Archives. I am happy to provide a copy of the music for evaluation purposes (not sure that'll make it any easier to classify, but it's worth a shot )! I've had good luck in the past sending digital files via www.wetransfer.com , if that works for you. I'd just need an email address to send to.
Special thanks to ProgShine as well, for submitting Flaud Logic for consideration in the first place!

Thank you, Seventh! That's an amazing site. It was very interesting to learn a little of what goes on "behind the scenes" at Prog Archives and how it all works!

Wow!
The album is fantastic. It also reinforces my opinion that it belongs in either Eclectic or Symphonic. If they decline, Crossover will work. It's already made it to my top 5 albums of the year. |

And I can bring you happy news that the band has been finally cleared and ready for addition.

As we're a bit swamped at the moment, we are open to external help, so if you send me (through PM) biography (possibly something objective and descriptive) and artist picture of your liking (though our "artist" page is more designed for vertical images, but it doesn't matter too much - just an image your would like to see here), then I can add the band.
Then, you can add the album, or provide me necessary info (specific lineup - who plays what instrument, tracklist with length of each song + total length, album image). Or I can do this myself, if I'll find necessary info. After this is done, reviewing madness can ensue :-) |
