I can't stand Dream Theater at all.

BUT, having said that, even I can't deny Images & Words being a good album.

Unfortunately the rest of their stuff is absolute garbage.

I've been really enjoying "Awake" recently, but I think "Images and Words" would still be my all time favorite.

Disc 1 from "6 degrees" is my absolute favourite CD from them... unfortunatley, it inlcudes the second CD which I just don't enjoy half as much. So I guess I must go with "Train of Thought". I liked the Black Clouds one pretty much too. I love lot's of music from them apart from this, but most albums have too many songs I don't like for their own sake.

To me, ADTOE is the perfect Dream Theater album.  Yeah, maybe they reached even higher points with SFaM or 6DOIT, but to me nothing is as consistently excellent and compositionally mature as their most recent album.

I love all their albums (except for the debut), but Images and Words is their accomplished work to date imo. It has their most iconic songs and the album as a whole feels very logical and consistent. Aside from that, it's pretty much the album that got me into the band so I admit I'm a little biased in that regard. Tongue

Going to go with the majority here and pick Images and Words. Although SFAM and ADTOE are close behind.

Went with Octavarium.

Probably helps that I'm a fan of Muse's Absolution album, which sounds like it influenced some of Octavarium's tracks.

That one was my favorite for a while after it came out. The Count of Tuscany is still my favorite DT track.

Surprisingly mine is the first vote for 6DOIT, such a brilliant album.

Next in line would be BCASL then SFAM third.

Ummmm I feel like rising to the occasion but won't, better to remain cool and ignore certain statements which are meant to inspire controversy. Cool  I personally can't stand Metallica however to state that their music is garbage would be moronic.
