The only part of the studio half of Ummagumma I particularly like is Waters's section.

So Pawn Hearts wins easily.

Ummagumma, obviously. Only The Grand Vizier's Garden Party keeps par with Pawn Hearts whereas Man-erg is the only track that is on level with the other Ummagumma tracks.

Note: The Narrow Way is my second favourite track from the entire PF catalog.

Right. These mixed bag contains some ideas of the individual Pink Floyd members, so of course it's a mixed bag. But one can call it goofy, eclectic and experimental as well .

BothBig smile But for very different reasons I might add.

Pawn Hearts, but only if David Gilmour and Roger Waters are singing.

Ummagumma, easily.  The Narrow Way and Grantchester Meadows are beautiful, Sysyphus and TGVGP are startling, and Several Species is essential listening for anyone who says they're a Pink Floyd fan (especially those who only know the mega-obvious things)

Pawn Hearts is an operatic prog classic.
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

You are joshing, right? They couldn't (and can't) pull it off.

* A year ago I wouldn't believe that I said this.

Curious, I've met many an "avid" Pink Floyd fan who have never even heard of the album Ummagumma. Ah well, their loss. Unhappy

I don't know about best album but I went with UmmaGumma. If I listen to VDGG for too long I start to become a bit agitated and troubled.

I have to say though that, while I love his singing style, the best putdown of PH's singing (that I actually laughed out loud when I heard) was someone saying he sounded like an old guy yelling at kids to get off his lawn! You can kind of see why it would strike someone like that if it's not their cuppa.
