Hi, I'd like to suggest my own band for submission for PA. Here you may listen to our music: http://seavine.bandcamp.com/
Our first album "Sea Vine" is going to be released by LYNX Music on 11th November. 1.Clouds 13:58 2.Circus (or Kissing Through the Gasmasks) 5:29 3.Raindrop 3:13 4.Going Anywhere 3:25 5. Światłocienie / Chiaroscuro 3:47 6. The Little Ones (Come and See) 15:00 Michał Cywiński - grand piano, Fender Piano, Moog , Hohner String Melody, guitars, drums (1-4, 6) Konrad Daszczyński - guitars (6) Milena Szymańska - vocals Mateusz „Tymon” Walerski – drums (5) Sea Vine, created in year 2012, is a music project oriented on performing illustrative music utilizing unique sounds of analogue instruments from the 1970s. ( Tony Banks, Rick Wakeman , Rick Wright solo albums style) Although, we define our music as prog-rock or art-rock our goal is to create music which is above all the artificial divisions into music styles. Apart from trying to make the best from all available music genres, we incorporate visual stimuli into our concerts and never hesitate to present live improvisations. The music created by Sea Vine is of a programme character. Each piece of music was created on the basis of individual experiences and emotions, as seen by ourselves not only as musicians, but listeners and observers as well. These emotions can be considered as having a universal nature. |

Well, this suggestion is a few days old now so I thought someone should say something here at least (it may actually have already been passed to a team for evaluation since there were some positive comments about the project from a couple of SCs here, back in August of this year.
Obviously prog - and damn fine prog too, so it belongs here somewhere for sure. However, I'm personally having problems deciding where it would best fit. The extensive use of analogue keyboards certainly give it a traditional sound, but there is a more modern jazz/funk element to some of the the music too. It sounds to me like light, mellow Symphonic Prog in the main, and I would probably start by asking Iván to have a listen to it. Can't really see where else it might neatly fit to be fair. It's not Neo or Crossover to my ears, nor Eclectic Prog...And no other subs would come anywhere close. Official release in just over a week, so if no other comments before then, I'll 'bump' the thread on the 11th Nov.

Hi, thanks for interest. If there are any doubts about genre, I'd like to add that currently the core of the album are two suites, Clouds and The Little Ones, which I think fit Symph Prog well. Wheter we continue this direction I can't really tell. There is a fully written and waiting for eventual label material for a jazz-rock/fusion EP, and on the other hand another strictly prog suite in progress. We will SEA:)

Hi guys: My conclusions are:
- Yes it's prog - Yes must be added to Prog Archives ASAP - I feel more oriented towards Neo Prog with Pink Floyd influence, a bit of Alan Parsons Project and Jazz elements GREAT MATERIAL - I voted no for Symphonic, but still two more members of the team to vote Iván

It is a great album and will find its way to Progarchives.
Symphonic elements evident but a lot of NEO Prog too. Perhaps more Neo than Symphonic. |

Hi Seavine
We believe the band fits better in Neo Prog But (It's a big but), we are not willing to alow the band fall between the cracks in the middle of subgenres, so we, the Symphonic Team HAVE ACCEPTED THE BAND IN OUR DATABASE with another but: Sea Vine has been sent to Neo prog IF THEY DON'T ACCEPT SEA VINE, THAT SAME DAY WE ADD IT TO SYMPHONIC. So it's a matter of days to be added in Neo or Symphonic. Cheers Ivám

^ Things are getting a bit more complicated, I'm afraid, as one of the
Neo boys suggested a move to Eclectic. So we have three sub-genres now. Ping-pong.

I was the boy, yes there are plenty of elements in Sea Vine's music, symphonic, Electronic and jazzy hints, definitely an eclectic mixture. If you put a gun in my head to choose between Neo and Symph, I would suggest the second.More Classical/symph elements than to say any MARILLION/PENDRAGON/PALLAS/COLLAGE hints.

^ Hey, take it easy, man! I was just pulling you leg. Of course, I agree
there are jazzy and electronic elements in there and it doesn't seem Neo to me
as well. It's just another example of an output that is hard to
categorise, that's all!
