In the past couple weeks, I've been going through this band's discography in chronological order and are these guys a surefire candidate for most improved group in progressive music or something? They started out as sort of like a German Kyuss, enjoyable but not exactly mindblowing, only to then become something else after shifting to a "jam band" format picking up more influences from funk, jazz and their country's Kosmische Musik tradition.

You know, CH's albums from the selftitled onwards are what I hold up as how to do a retro-genre/"new old school" project the right way: It keeps all the things that made the originals worth, the structure of their music showing a level of ambition that's exceptional for heavy psychedelic rock of their generation and some of the best instrumental interplay in modern rock period; at the same time they actually benefit from being a generation removed from most of their inspiration, for instance their dynamic between different sonic textures relying on advances in guitar technology since then.

Still not quite sure what my favourite album is, though. Surprised to see there's only one CH review on the main site, I might finally start writing some of my own then.

By the way, has anyone heard their newest album She Said? I actually haven't, but if it's anything like Tempel or All it's probably great.

You're getting Causa Sui and Colour Haze confused with each other... understandable, since they are two very similar groups in both style and nomenclature.

In addition to Causa Sui I can also mention Earthless, Mammatus and Papir as similar contemporary bands listening to. Wo Fat too, though they're a bit further to the metallic side of things.

I've heard some Colour Haze in the past and I quite enjoyed it.
Just how is that possible that over their entire output they merited only a lone review?

My guess is that they're not very popular outside the Germanic cultural sphere.

Thanks to a friend in Germany, I was able to hear "She Said" within 24 hours of my request.
Time permitting, I may pen a few notes in the Review section. For now, let me just say that it's very much like "All" and to the extent that if you have that album then this one is redundant, meaning that you would have heard these notes before.
I hope that it's of useful info to the original query.
