Here are two songs which are strikingly similar to each other, im pointing at the piano melody and the scatting in the middle, is it Haken who borrows the piano melody or is it mere coincidence

The world is teeming with coincidences, this is one.
Can you prove otherwise? |

It's true, the piano melodies are similar, but I find it hard to believe that Haken purposefully stole a piano melody from a 2000s pop song.

All the more reason to do it! ![]() But I also believe it's a mere coincidence. |

Each should cover one of their songs.....Seriously though I find a lot of similar piano tidbits in music.

Haken is sort of 'Vanessa Carlton' metal. That said they have a nice symphonical element to their music that gives them their content. Oh and the wacky fusion bits.

Aye - on their first CD , there is a section that lifts the rift from "Alaska" by Pendragon - whether that is just coincidental though is open to debate and depends if any of the Haken mob have actually listened to Pendragon enough to have lifted their riff. |

I didn't know that one but obviously there is the Gentle Giant bit on Cockroach King but I also hear King Crimson and Anathema. To be fair its quite impressive that they can move seamlessly between a variety of styles. Its an interesting album for sure but as I remarked in my review I'm not hearing a coherent creative vision that is uniquely theirs and that bothers me. Perhaps I was harsh although if had been a debut album and not their third then I would have been more understanding.
