That is of course true, but I shall hold out hope! 

Jeff Gordon won his 4th race of the year today at The Monster Mile, making this his 92nd overall, just 8 away from 100.  Kyle Busch had another solid top 10 finish today, as well.  The four guys to be eliminated from this round were AJ Allmendinger, Kurt Busch, Greg Biffle and Aric Almirola.

It's getting cool in the NE and that means only one thing. Petit Le Mans is just around the corner and I predict that the DP's will find it a lot more challenging then Sebring or the 6 hr Glen race. I feel the P2's with experience will take this one. GT? I'd like to see Ferrari take it but as long as it's a good race I don't really care. And I expect a good race.

^Boy, that does sound strange. But like F1, these sanctioning bodies just can't leave what's good enough alone.

Suzuka this weekend. Typhoon Phonfane is incoming and due to hit Suzuka on Sunday, at the moment the time table will stay the same but the FIA have made it clear that they will move the start time forward by some hours if it will help them run the full distance, expect it to be a wet race.

We're on for Mercedes domination again this weekend, Hamilton beat Rosberg by 0.2s and then Bottas 3rd 1.2s back, thats a big gap though at least Williams tend to get quicker for qualy and the race.

Also, it seems almost guaranteed that Alonso will leave Ferrari at the end of the year, he's in talks with McLaren for a seat next year.

I shouldn't be too surprised, but now I'm just concerned about where he's going next.  Another possibility to oust Button out of his seat for next year.

EDIT:  Looks like he's headed to Ferrari, and Alonso will more than likely replace Button or Magnussen (the former more likely).

Don't bet on it, apparently the management are convinced it'll take a year or two to get back to challenging for the title. Really didn't see this coming though, a big surprise as Vettel had a year left on his contract. Looks like Torro Rosso will have two rookies on their books next year, Verstappen and possibly Carlos Sainz Jr.

Nice one from Rosberg to snatch poll, I'm surprised at how far off Red Bull are, this was a track they expected to excel at again.
