As much as I love Islands, I have to concede that Octopus is a very good album and GG get my vote this round.

Octopus. Was never really an Islands fan.

Octopus is the ultimate GG's album.

I used to like Gentle Giant, but I find them rather annoying these days. Islands is a criminally underrated Crimson album and deserves as many accolades that can be given to it.

^ Tastes and perceptions change. What we love today we may find indigestible tomorrow, and what we dislike now we may love later. I actually tend to appreciate those shifts in my life. It's all part of the journey to finality. Maybe one day he will enjoy GG again more, or maybe not. Doesn't really matter.
I used to love Gentle Giant (was my favourite band when I joined this site), but I really went off the band. Islands is indeed terrific. Edited by Logan - May 12 2014 at 16:07 |

No need to be unhappy. It's just an opinion. I'm sure you have many I disagree with as well.

It finally got tough for me. I don't like Islands. I don't like Gentle Giant. I'll have to listen to both before I vote, and I can't do that until I finish all my spinach. Umm...to go box, please.

Seems fairly unfair based on the general rep of both albums on the site:
1970 3.78 | 1191 ratings Islands 1971 4.26 | 1211 ratings Octopus And yet regardless of this I will vote Islands. Something about the subtle nuances of the album made it stand out in Krim's early katalog for me. Octopus... maybe because of the hype it had to live up to never really made my expectations. Free Hand remains the giant Giant album in my books. Edited by Queen By-Tor - May 13 2014 at 20:50 |

Islands for me, but maybe on the strength of a Sailors tale alone - what a track!

Hey Andrey, keep listening. That's how I felt about it initially and I eventually got the hang of it
