Topic: My favorite Opeth songs Posted: April 25 2014 at 19:58 |
I have not included the first 3 albums because I haven't heard them yet. Meanwhile these are my favorite of each album since Still Life to Heritage. Vote for the one you think is the best.

Personally, I think To Rid The Disease is the best track on Damnation, that haunting piano section is brilliant. I love all of Opeth, though I find myself coming back to Damnation the most. I have to be in the mood for Metal, (and when I am, currently, I simply turn on ANYTHING from Devin Townsend) but I can listen to Damnation ANY time, and each time it envelops me.
In My TIme of Need gets my vote, tszirmay is right, that melody is remarkable! Happy, dark, what is it?? Marvelous. "And I should contemplate this change, to ease the pain. And I should step out of the rain. Turn away."

Anything from Blackwater Park kills it. The Moor, Ghost of Perdition, and Lotus Eater are all quite nice as well.

Forests of October, Nektar, Black Rose Immortal, April Ethereal and When are all excellent songs from the first 3 albums.

The Moor is a masterpiece but this list is incredible. Opeth is one of those band that always impress me.They are my favourite progmetal band. You really should look out for the first 3 albums. Have a good listen !

The Moor is probably my favourite of these. Such a cracking intro!

I'd add The Night And The Silent Water, Karma and Under The Weeping Moon to that too

Ghost of Perdition, but a very strong list indeed! All the epics from that album could just as easily have gotten my vote. It's a monumental album.

"The Drapery Falls" is the only Opeth song with grunting that I have managed to like (and one of the very few grunting songs from any artist), so that's the song I vote for here (though I like much more the live version from "Lamentations"). Besides that song, I really love "Closure" too (also the version from Lamentations), Burden, and Folklore.
