really hard call, I opted for Undertow but Mad Man Moon and Heathaze also are good. I thought Hackett & Banks did Entangled.....heck theya re all good really maybe Cul de Sac not as solid....

Undertow is probably my favourite. Very moving song and a warning against taking things for granted and putting things off until 'tomorrow' Always gets me.. I don't think Genesis were ever great lyricists after PG left to be honest. Some of their lyrics are quite cringy imo. I'm sorry, but as much as I think Entangled is one of their finest pieces of music the lyrics are awful.

From the list One for the vine is my favourite, one of the best Genesis lyrics. Mad man moon and Undertow stunning too. Firth of fifth,Cinema show and Seven Stones are great Banks lyrics too. If Iam not wrong Entangled is a Hackett lyric.

Out of these, I'd say Heathaze, although One for the Vine comes in a very close second. However, you missed three of my favorite Banks' lyrics: Firth of Fifth, Feeding the Fire and Domino. Just a little note too: The lyrics for Entangled were written by Hackett, not Banks. Banks contributed to part of the music of the song, but the lyrics were (at least primarily) Hackett's. Edit: You are correct genbanks. It was indeed a Hackett lyric.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Yes, Hackett the verse, Banks the chorus and the mellotron solo.
I would add Fading Lights and Me and Sarah Jane, great lyrics too.

Mad Man Moon and One For the Vine are a tie for me. I voted for Mad Man Moon just because it was lower in the vote tally. Then I noticed Entangled on the list and that I couldn't vote again. Didn't Hackett co-write Entangled? In any event, three way tie, although credit needs to go to One For the Vine for it's very transparent message.

When he rides, my fears subside. For darkness turns once more to light. Through the skies, his white horse flies. To find a land beyond the night.

Some great lyrics throughout these songs, but the one song that often swirls its way through my mind is Mad Man Moon. Such an exquisite arrangement, both musically and lyrically. Love the lyrics to Domino as well, very inspired work all 'round.
