Maybe you should choose to be around different people?

Hey all, this is just a thread about my deep dislike for the NFL(Football itself is a great game by the way but I just have a deep dislike for the NFL).I want everyone to know that I feel this game has been responsible for a lot of negativity in our society(in particular the US). Let me reiterate what an intellectual once said "Why should I care?" Why?" Why should I care about this when there are more important issues to worry about? One thing, I don't have a problem with the game or with sports( I love them actually) but they are just that "games" (and not life). Also, I feel that this game gets an awful a lot of unfair publicity in comparison to other sports. What do ya'll think?
OK, ... the mind reels ... . In the title you are saying you don't like American football. Then, in the post you are saying it's a great game. After that, you wrote "this game has been responsible for a lot of negativity in our society", without explaining how it is responsible for that. Then you are saying you have no problem with the game. There's a lot of self-contradiction going on. My question is: what is your stance ultimately on the game?
I personally don't care for the American football and the NFL. I always look at a sport as a pastime, not something worth dedicating a life to.
There is no contradiction there? I have a problem with it but that doesn't mean that it is not a great game on its own. There is just too much emphasis on it especially when comparing it to other sports

And yet, here you are still breathing and stuff.

Look at my posts afterwards and would see that it was a bit exaggerated but not too much. My brother-in laws see me differently because of this

^ Interesting perspective. I've never thought of the American football as a game for the sake of violence.
Well....I don't think it was 'invented' for the 'sake of violence' but there's no doubt it's an outlet for aggressive behavior bordering on violence. A modern Roman gladiator event with breads and circuses.

It's exactly what I think about our football. In our society everybody has to like it and other sports are worthless
It's a very similar feeling I guess. You know how I feel

All of that comes from Football though so its obviously not just the people I'm around

If football didn't exist, it would be something else. You would be viewed differently because you don't like the WWE. Or because you don't drink. Or because you don't tell and react favorably to dirty jokes.
These sorts of people exist all over and bond together over a particular "drug" of choice. You don't like it, so you're an outsider. That's a mentality that's been around for centuries that football didn't cause.

^^^ You are right in a way but football did cause others to feel like outsiders at school as it has for many a year. I've also read some sociological articles about this kind of stuff

And I'm telling you, it wasn't football. It's personality.
It's like how if you take away alcohol from someone with an addictive personality, they'll find something else to get addicted to. People addicted to football aren't that different.
