Zappa is a genius but his music does nothing for me.

PFM are my favourite RPI band.

Great disc by PFM, but against Zappa's Grand Wazoo, not a chance. Easy call, Grand Wazoo.

I may have to spin these two before casting my vote. Very different sounding records with PFM nailing that honeydripping melodic RPI touch without ever getting cheesy, and then on the other hand Zappa's continuation of Waka Jawaka only here refined like a matured red wine with bells, whistles and the most loopy sounding horn section.

The Grand Wazoo isn't one of my top Zappa albums, that doesn't mean it's not filled with moments of superb playing.
It's top notch from start to finish but it's just me not preferring that fusion style over PFM's classic debut.

Storia is maybe their most Italian sounding album.

Zappa, easy.  I like the PFM too but GW is one of Zappa's most lasting and rewarding albums.
