Topic: Under the Radar Posted: September 17 2014 at 14:26 |
This poll is inspired by Xonty's recent poll where he listed the number one album in each genre. I decided to make up a poll for the number one album in each genre where the number of ratings is 50 or less. By the way, I have yet to hear any of these albums. So I can't even vote. I will be very interested in the results. Please feel free to vote if you are familiar with only 1 option.

There's no way I'll ever hear all of these, or even most of them, but I love that Laurent Thibault album, so I'll vote for it.

Zanov - Green Ray is the most thrilling discovery for me in a long time. Amazing album from start to finish.

I'll vote for the only one I have heard: Sagan om Ringen although I am more familiar with it as Lord of the Rings. Hansson captured a mysticism inherent in Tolkein's great work through atmosphere, tone, and mood. As a special note, I am somewhat familiar with Eberhard Weber's work but not this particular album.

This is almost impossible man! There are many favourites here like Dashiell Hedayat, Laurent Thibault, Gam, Latter e Mielle and Bo Hansson but my goes to the too overlooked outstanding metal gem Pan.thy.monium! Kudos Digdug for mentioning this album.

Nice idea for a poll. Six of these I have never heard. Of the rest I voted for Pan.thy.monium but I also really like the Greaves, Gam and Swans albums.

Swans is the only one I've heard on this list, so they get my vote.

Lots of great releases, but I went with GAM in the end. Fantastic album and quite headscratching to think that the best album the group ever did first got it's release some 25 years later. Very tempted to go for Hedayatt and Thibault though.

According to PA Lord of the Rings was released in 1972 and Sagan om Ringen as released in 1970 There are two very different covers. Lord of the Rings has 101 ratings and wouldn't qualify for this poll based on that. Are these actually the same album?

I'm flattered! haven't heard most of these either, but it would probably be Belighted - my copy just arrived a couple days ago and there's some killer tracks on it! So far, don't think it's as good as the original, but maybe a few more listens (Os Lunatum is possibly their best song). Swans is up there too, but it's still too overrated IMO...
