Steven Wilson has been working for a while on his upcoming album and that isn't new but he recently released a new video on his youtube channel regarding this new album. In the video he talks about the influences of his new work. You can also listen to a preview of a few tracks. Steven Wilson's fourth solo album is scheduled for release in February 2015.

New album now available to pre-order on four different formats (12/10)

From Steven Wilson's Facebook: The new album from Steven Wilson, “Hand. Cannot. Erase.” is now available to pre-order in 4 different formats.

The album follows the critical and commercial success of 2013's 'The Raven That Refused To Sing' (Germany #3, UK# 28) and an international run of sold-out shows, including London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

Joining Steven on the album is Guthrie Govan (Official) (Official) (guitar), Adam Holzman (keyboards), Nick Beggs (bass / stick), and Marco Minnemann (drums) - all part of the world-class band that graced The Raven and the 2013/2014 world tours.

"Hand. Cannot. Erase." was recorded in September 2014 at the renownedAIR Studios in London.

Wow, thanks.

Sounds like this album will do much more for me. Raven was pretty good, but hearing that he's going to be more varied gets me very excited.

Am I the only one that hears some Rush influence in the first 30 seconds or so of the video?  Anyway, sounds alright so far. Smile

I never got into Insurgentes, nor his Covers material (good, but not great) though Grace and Raven both floored me. He can practically can do no wrong.....

While it inevitably will end up as droopy and melancholic as everything else monsieur Wilson touches, I was still entertaining the idea of a shift in sound towards a warmer and more uplifting feel. I actually really dig that. Great riffs.

It is exactly what I thought about the up uplifting feel. This may not be the superb Raven album but it definitely sounds, so far, very very good.

That deep down inside Steve Wilson is a very sad puppy?

Nah but he's often spoken about finding beauty in heartache and melancholy. I guess that's why the cover arts to his albums always are so cheery.

I thought there were some really cheerful moments on that clip, which doesn't sound very much Wilson-like. I wonder if he will keep it up through the album... it would be really nice for a change.
