I'm here to present my own musical project: Infinite Light, a Swedish prog rock solo project.

Personnel:
John Johannesson: drums, bass, guitars, pianos, organs, synths and vocals

The debut album, The Science of Movement, was recorded in my home studio between 2008 and 2014.

Track listing:
1. Beautiful World (21:41)
2. Below the Storm (20:03)
3. The Science of Movement (08:28)
4. Infinite (11:01)
5. And the Sun Rises (24:22)

I would describe the album as symphonic prog, but also with some heavier parts. The sound is influenced by the prog rock giants of the 70s; Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis and the likes, but also more contemporary bands like The Flower Kings and IQ. Rush has been a huge influence as well. An album which provided a sonic guide in the later parts of the recording (most notably prompting me to add a lot more Hammond organ) was Opeth's Pale Communion.

Hello John and welcome to the archivesBeer

I'm sorry to start out with having to be a sourpuss, but I do think the production lets your music down. We have a rule here on PA stating the need for artists to have professionally recorded their album(s) before we can consider them for inclusion. I honestly don't think your album qualifies, sorry.

Here's the bit from our guidelines:

"......but if the band is self-signed, please ensure that the band has recorded their music professionally or

in a professional manner...."

If that is your honest opinion, there is no need to apologise for stating it. I would however be grateful for a more specific reason as to why the album does not qualify as being recorded in a professional manner.

On perhaps a related note I found that the files available for streaming on Bandcamp had some noticeable compression artefacts, but CD-quality files are available to download for free.

Hi John, just to add to David's point, our Band Admission Policy states that

For the purpose of clarity, an official release is defined here as:
1.2 Recorded and mixed in a professional manner, such that it meets commercial sound quality as found on average CDs released by commercial record companies;

Regardless of whether the music is progressive, I think your recording and mixing does not meet the above criteria e.g. the sound and mixing of guitars, bass and drums. Nothing to do with bandcamp compression.

Hope this helps Smile
