Hello all forum goers! I’ve discovered my fair share of prog bands through this site, so I figured that it was finally time that I joined it.

For me, the more time signatures and dissonance, the better. But I also specifically like music that sounds like it was made in the 80s or 90s and mainly uses synths (prog and not prog). So for me, albums like Jazz from Hell by Frank Zappa are fantastic. Big smile

I also appreciate when bands can combine technicality and crazy time signatures with memorable melodies.

I’m also well versed in progressive music in video games, and I hope I can give some of those soundtracks/artists the exposure they deserve on this site.

Some bands/artists I like are

Yugen, Bubblemath, solo Jordan Rudess, The Gourishankar, Gentle Giant, and Virgil Donati stuff

Have you tried post-bop, or it would be too many crazy time signatures too often Wink

Welcome! Plenty of techy stuff here to sink the teeth into, as you've probably found out already. Do ya know Cardiacs by any chance? I reckon they could be a band that you'd dig.
