Topic: ŠKM Banda - Post Rock/Math rock or Eclectic Posted: November 21 2014 at 09:53 |
Among Slovenian bands that have emerged in the last decade, the quartet from Prekmurje region can without exaggeration be labeled as one of the uniques. We could search for genres that influenced their instrumental music of their previous works in jazz, post-rock, ethno, noise and folk music, but would always have to conclude, that this band defies a clear-cut genre definitions and mixes up the musical worlds.
This world is now getting even broader with the band incorporating diverse acoustic instruments like banjo, ukulele, kalimba, cimbalon and xylophone in their standard lineup of electric and bass guitars and drums. All of these instruments are featured on their fourth studio album, which was according to their usual practise, produced by Plueg. Cover artwork was provided by Gregor Purgaj.
ŠKM Banda has up to this point released three studio albums and one live album and also played quite extensively outside of Slovenian borders.
You can download and listen to album Panontikon here (it was jointly released under KAPA Records and God Bless This Mess Records): https://kaparecords.bandcamp.com/album/panontikon

I've only heard the latest album so far but it is some great stuff. The kind of 'post-rock' I'm into. I will wait to see if someone from Eclectic has anything to say, otherwise I will give the suggestion to my team.
