Touché!

A lot of famous books were originally published as serials before they appeared in book form - including The Count Of Monte Cristo (in 139 instalments), and  Anna Karenina (serialised over four years)

Nah, we're talking prog, damn it. We need to get bigger not smaller. Forget double albums, we need 100 CD box sets of a band's full discography...all released at the same time. Talk about a killer debut album! LOL

Let's not get carried away.
Let's start with a 4-CD debut album: the initial songs, their remixes, bonus tracks (including a dozen of cover versions of King Crimson, Yes, ELP and the original "Macross" theme) and a live CD.
The 100 CD box set should be left to the old bands providing their whole '74 tour, just like Yes.

It's true that many if not most people today are happy listening to music on their phone or iPad with earphones or from their PC with some relatively cheap speakers setup, but there has always been and there will always be a market for the whole range, from these to audiophiles. And let's not get carried away, many of these current affordable sound systems sound better than what most people had in the 1970's, yes people were playing vinyls but very often on those turntables which had the speakers built-in in their cover lid and stuff like that. It was only a few wealthy people who had good Hi-Fi systems.

Well of course I lived in Spain which was a rather poor and delayed country at the time (compared to most of the 'more northern Europe' that is). Me and most of my friends had a suitcase-style turntable, the ones you could take to any party, I bet that if I listened to that now I would say that it sounded terrible.

Having said that, a Hi-Fi system was one my first priorities when I started to be able to save some money, I think it was around 1982 (I was 16 at the time) that I made what at the time was a huge investment for me, a Thomson Hi-Fi system which costed me around 1000 euros of the time, that was a lot of money in Spain at the time. Turntable, radio tuner, single cassette deck (which I soon replaced by a double one in order to be able to dub tapes), a 100 W amp and 3-way speakers. All my friends would come listen to music to my place as no-one had anything similar at the time. Actually I still have the amp and it still sounds really good Tongue
