Hey everyone!

My first exposure to rock music was hearing David Bowie. He is still one of my favourite musicians. There is a wonderful experience to discover classic rock (non-prog): Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath (especially Ozzy era), The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors… Prog metal albums like “Operation: Mindcrime” by Queensr˙che and “Metropolis Pt.2: Scenes From a Memory” by Dream Theater show me the way to prog. My number one prog band is Pink Floyd: from “Piper…” to “The Division Bell”. And I’m really crazy about The Mars Volta. Mind-blowing music!

My favourite albums:

King Crimson - Islands

Pink Floyd - Animals

Rush - Moving Pictures

Tangerine Dream - Zeit

The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium

Tool - 10, 000 Days

Not favourite but great albums which I adore:

The Moody Blues - Days Of Future Passed (don’t know exactly if it’s prog but this album is fantastic)

Opeth - Damnation

Storm Corrosion - Storm Corrosion

I am also interested in classic cinema. My favourite directors are Stanley Kubrick, Ingmar Bergman and Alfred Hitchcock.

Looking forward to know more about prog music Wink

I think you'll fit in right away. Moody Blues is most definitely prog and a classic too. Smile
There is no dark side in the moon, really... Matter of fact, it's all dark...

`Ello,

I are a newbie too. With that said when I introduced myself a day or two ago Windhawk introduced me to a new band, and since you like Mars Volta, figured I would toss it at you too.

As for classic cinema have you ever watched a "Face in the Crowd" the only film where Andy Griffith plays the villain?

Hello!

This epic is great but not mine at all.

“A face in the crowd” - I heard about the movie (watched “On the waterfront”, “A streetcar named desire” and “East of eden” by Elia Kazan), thank you for your advice!

No problem mate. Good luck with the music, and classic cinema hunting.
If you are looking for new music might I suggest you look at the Top Ten Prog albums of each year? You're bound to find something amazing there.
