One bonus of being a big baseball fan in the UK is when a west coast game runs late (ie: Giants v Cubs this morning) I can watch live, so had the pleasure of watching the extra innings this morning.  That was real edge of the seat stuff.  You have to hand it to them, the Giants don't know when they are beat.

Game 4 is the Cubs real big chance, Matt Moore on the mound for the Giants.  However, if the Giants take that game, and with their bats beginning to heat up a little, the pressure on the Cubs in a game 5, even at home, would be absolutely immense.  Sure, they should still win the series, but....

Jeffro, I think the Sox peaked too early.  They were fantastic until they clinched the division and then seemed to struggle to get back to that level again.  The bats cooled off and unfortunately Big Papi didn't get to end it in fairytale style.  I also think it would have been best to start Porcello in game 3 rather than the opener, he seems to pitch best at FenwayThey could have used Sandoval's nous in the playoffs, it's a shame as he is generally clutch incorporated in October.  Do you think he could be the new DH next season or will that be Hanley?

They lost this series because they didn't hit and their starting pitching didn't come through. I think that 11 game win streak unrealistically inflated expectations. Had they remained hot, they would have beaten the Indians. Sometimes in sports it's not who's best, but who's hottest (or coldest) at the moment.

This team has frustrated me all year. They would have games when they would score tons of runs and then have games where they couldn't hit at all. I think their run differential was a bit skewed because of that. Losing Steven Wright certainly didn't help either on the pitching front. The bullpen, which was so shaky early on really did come together and became a strength of the team in the second half.
It will be very interesting to see what they do to prepare for next year.

There is some speculation that they will try to sign Encarnacion as their DH. I don't know if there is any substance to that rumor though. Hanley could work at DH but honestly, he has been good as a 1st baseman. I'm cautiously (very cautiously) optimistic that a healthy Sandoval will be much better.

^I live in the East Bay, where there should be more A's fans than Giants fans, and work right down the street from AT&T Park.  It's time they felt a little heartbreak.

My worry for the Giants is the Cubs are now into the soft white underbelly (always been a big BOC fan ) of the Giants pitching staff - the Shark and Moore are way below the level of Madbum and Cueto. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Pretty much in agreement with the rest of your calls there.

Glad you guys agree on Mickey's calls.

On that note...  now that the pressure and spotlight are off them. Nationals win the division and the WS.  Same team pretty much that everyone thought might win 130 games.  How likely is it that everyone BUT Bryce has a career worst year two years in a row.

book it.. Nationals win the WS. My O's..  is Angelos dead yet... the only hope for my beloved Orioles. Cry
your predictions look a little lame at this point in the season

Never thought I'd see the Cubbies raise the trophy. Congrats to any cubs fans lurking around here.

A little late on this, but that game 7 was one for the ages...Cubs finally did it.

I think for the MLB ratings, the Cubs needed to lose to keep the folklore going into the next few years...but happy for Cubs fans never the less.
