Hey guys!

So me and my best friend from school have always been performing together (he sings and plays rhythm, I play lead guitar), and we've recently formed a really exciting country rock band.

It's a six piece with 3 key members (the singer and myself being 2 of them), similar vibe to counting crows or needtobreathe.

We are really stuck for a band name, these are some of the ideas we've had so far:

*something with "brothers" in it
*Highway something
*we liked the imagery of "lights"
*some reference to south/southern - we are from south UK, and like sound from a lot of southern music in US
*Tiburon is name of singers house, named after the place in US. I really like how it sounds so was thinking something like Brothers Tiburon.
*Brothers Before has been suggested although I'm not too keen personally

Any suggestions would be hugely hugely hugely appreciated, we are about to release our first single but really need a name to build up hype before hand haha.

Thank you!!

My band has the same problem - we agree on a name and then the next week someone decides they don't like it.
Not sure why you've come to a prog rock site for a country rock band but anyway...

Don't go for Highway something as people will think you're a Deep Purple tribute, and Brothers Before sounds like Brother Beyond and they were shi*te.
Tiburon is quite good on it own, leave the Brothers bit.

who?? LOL

unless you all are related to the Allmans.. forget about it.

*Highway something
nah...
*we liked the imagery of "lights"
a good start...
*some reference to south/southern - we are from south UK,
*spits iced tea on monitor*
*Tiburon is name of singers house, named after the place in US. I really like how it sounds so was thinking something like Brothers Tiburon.
I like Tiburon...that is sort of unique.. perhaps use that as a starting point..
*Brothers Before has been suggested although I'm not too keen personally
smart man.. don't like that..

Any suggestions would be hugely hugely hugely appreciated, we are about to release our first single but really need a name to build up hype before hand haha.

and a catchy band name is the first step to building hype.. man there are a million bands out there.. in order to get people to listen unless you are making an album for family and friends.. you have to interest them to even check you out.

Thank you!!

I'll think it over.. I like the singer's house name.. and the light imagery...  perhaps something can be whipped out out of that.

to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Tiburon is Spanish for shark (tiburón), it's also the name used for the Hyundai Coupe in the USA.
Tiburón Sur
Tiburon Halo
The Tiburon Twins
Shark Grin
Sharky McSharkface

The imagery of "Lights" can take you practically anywhere but finding a catchy name that invokes that is quite difficult...
The Ambassadors of Morning ... (it's clichéd but would be a great Pink Floyd Tribute band name)
Bright Scintilla
The Blue Atmospherics ... (one my Dad's favourite phrases - he said it was "The Sparks from a Bluebottle's Arse")
Seeing Stars

Extrapolating from "lights" - Ray (another form of shark):
Manta Man
God Rays
The Southern Ray Highway
Rays 'n' Hell

Halfway between a Ray and a Shark is the Guitar Fish, but I got nothing from that other than a mildly diverting read of a Wikipedia page, but to complete the train of thought:
Guitarfish

Depending on where in the South you are:
The Bognor Brothers
The A303 Jam Band
Route 3-0-3 ... (I think that's been done before... it might be a mock-American diner I once drove passed on the A303)
The Southern Pine Trio
The Plymouth Hoe Down / The Westward Ho! Down
The South Downs, Downs, Deeper and Downs
The Shepton Mallrats
The Tollpuddle Tomatoes (aka the 'marters)
Dartmoor Orless
Exmoor Excess
The Grockle Stops
Six-finger Discount

The first one I thought of was "Southern Tiburon Illuminati" (or "Illumination" if one prefers) or "The Southern Lights of Tiburon". Hmm, "Great Southern Highway Tales of the Incandescent Brothers of Tiburon". Simply "The Brothers of Tiburon" has a mystical but perhaps rather too cult-like edge to it.
Just a fanboy passin' through.

Never expected so much response, thank you so much all, haven't posed but did read everything!

In the end decided to go with "Fire Through Smoke", a bit of a joke since we set off a fire alarm when we used a haze machine during a video performance and we liked the vagueness of it.

If you'd like here is our first release as a band :) (the venue where we set off the fire alarm for 2 hours)

"The Ipomea Companions"
Or "The Ipomea Brothers".
Ipomea is the name for Morning Glory seeds-FLOWERS! It's the name of flowers.
