Nor is another divisive yet very acclaimed by some album, Tago Mago (not even in the top 250, I think). Looking at rateyourmusic, the list is quite different, Tago Mago is at number 6 for progressive rock, and Can also has an album in 9th and 10th place (found out after mentioning Tago Mago). TfTO does make their top one hundred either, but Close to the Edge, their highest rated Yes album, is at number 7 (right after Tago Mago).

RYM top progressive rock list

Really, I've never cared much about top lists, but interesting to see the chart differences there compared to PA. Krautrock does better there.

Really, I've never cared much about top lists, but interesting to see the chart differences there compared to PA. Krautrock does better there.

RYM's users have made themselves a slightly more interesting proglist imo. However both PA and RYM's user based lists are much better than most expert lists of any kind. Music fans tastes are far better than any magazine I've seen.

- once again I have a hard time deciding between You and Rock Bottom. They've both been on many polls lately.

I prefer RYM's list to PA's too, but then again I am a sucker for Krautrock of which there is no shortage of there. On here it seems to be a somewhat overlooked style of music. I think most folks that start out listening to it have a harder time appreciating classic symph prog whereas the opposite most likely holds true as well.
I found Amon Düül ll, Can, Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Tempel, NEU! and the likes way before I ever stuck my nose in Foxtrot and Relayer. Today I love both styles but still have a preference for ze Germans.

Btw I voted for Rubycon. An album that builds mountainous pyramids out of synthesiser air. Could just as easily have picked You though.
