I wonder whether this will be a no holes barred type of deal, but maybe it's still too early to shatter people's rosy red perception of what The Beatles were.
I would love to see these years depicted in a realistic manner: the 3-4 gigs a day in different cities, no sleep but lots of pills and whatnot to keep them going, and of course how all of this madness affected them not only musically but as human beings.
Most accounts I've read of other musicians and artists who had the chance to work with them later on (late 60s early 70s) describe them as (somewhat charming) megalomaniacs with long fingers. Then again, if you're worshipped like a deity before you become an adult, it's not at all weird that one's ego ends up off centre and slightly inflated.

Maybe it's because I'm only a casual fan (I really dig Revolver, Magic Mystery Tour and Abbey Road though), but I have seen far too many movies that somehow manage to put artists on an immaculate pedestal instead of portraying genuine people, who just happened to pull something wonderful out of their trunks.
That being said, no one can take away their legacy and that side of the story should preferably also be told. Pretty much every serious rock band that came after The Beatles owe them a great deal of gratitude for planting the seeds.

I'm sure it will be a love fest....it is Opie after all.  Plus it has the contribution of all surviving members and spouses, which they likely wouldn't do if it was critical.

The main selling point seems to be new Super 8 footage and accompanying soundboard recordings.  They've cleaned up and repaired the 8's and have been able to sync them with the sound.  So fans will have new concert footage they've never seen or heard before.  He also mentioned tracking down some of the screaming kids today and talking to them.

Still, probably a film for serious fans than casual ones.

Either way I'll watch it with great pleasure
I like most of Ron Howards flicks - even a couple ones he got panned for.

Me too.  I'm a sucker for great harmonies....even if its just "boy meets girl" songs.

I just hope they include a great quality upgrade of the rooftop concert.  Doubtful because Paul and R don't like that film, but God are they missing the point.  It's a fabulous gem to see the band jamming (and having FUN) at the end.

Agree on all accounts - especially regarding the rooftop gig. That'd be something.
