^ Yeah, I think that about sums it up. All the washed up groupies who try to tell you that every single show that they did from 1966 to 1981 is the greatest show ever, maaaaaan are overrating them, but on a night when they were on fire, oh man were they.

The Grateful Dead had such a long career and spanned such a huge diversity of music, transcending genre - absolutely worthy of praise in my book - one of my all-time favorite bands. You can't base an appreciation of them on just the studio albums either - live is where they really shone - on a good night at least! I only saw them three times in their waning years, i was born too late, but fortunately there is an extensive archive of their live performances.
More and more you'll see the Dead's name bopped around for inclusion in the PA pantheon. I'm all for it if only to turn more PA members on to the band.....well worth extending listening.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....
