From Providence, RI

Skin Graft Records artists Doomsday Student have a blend that is clearly an acquired taste. Futile to describe, but I will try. Black Flag meets Beefheart meets The Shags meets the bathroom floor of the gambling hall in the Trainspotting suppository fetching scene.

Beware.

Personally, I hear a lot of Abba and The Bee Gees in there.

Listened to "A Self-Help Tragedy" and this is definitely not Avant. Sounds much of math-y post punk.

Sounds like The Residents on purple drank...but with a drummer

Which means it's awesome!!!

I can hear punk and industrial influence in there

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

When I hear "Yowie" or "The Flying Luttenbachers" which are included in the sub, I find great similarities in structure and instrumental approach to "Doomsday Student" and its sister band "Arab on Radar". I have to confess that I lack understanding of the differentiating criteria. Vocals would be the most obvious I suppose.

Anyway, I am not particularly invested in their music and respect that the team has delved into these artists much deeper than I have. Just trying to understand where the line is for future reference. Beer

Tend to agree, its mathy industrial noise rock for me.
